绍兴大剧院是绍兴市人民政府投资兴建的标志性文化设施，座落在市区商贸中心，东临繁华的解放路，南靠绍兴城隍庙－－府横街，西依古城护城河，北接城市广场。
　　绍兴大剧院总占地面积21000平方米，建筑面积26500平方米，总高度53.1米工程，总投资3.8亿元。建筑风格独特，钢结构框架，融汇了古城韵味和时代气息，灰色的层次与具有光感的玻璃幕墙有机结合，在灯光的映衬下宛如一艘激流勇进中的大船。
　　大剧院正门上是一幅大型青铜雕塑“兰花馨香”，雕塑者以兰花和两组分别反映我国先秦时期和西方古希腊时期文化社会生活的图像，凸现建设继承与发展的主题。雕塑中间“洋为中用、古为今用、推陈出新、百花齐放”几个篆体大字，为这一主题作了更好的注解。
　　大剧院有近1500平方米的大厅作为观众的休息区域，大厅的主色调为白色，地面采用黄金海岸花岗岩铺贴，花岗岩上卷曲花纹使大厅充満着动感与灵气。大厅正墙上是一幅金属雕塑“凤和正声”：两只凤凰围着一个由许多类似铜锣样乐器组成的物件飞舞，充满着祥和欢快的气氛。
　　绍兴大剧院观众厅共设1349座，分两层。其中池座857座（22排），楼座472座（16排），两侧包厢共20座。厅内装饰华丽，座椅以一流剧院的优级标准配置，其中池座前后坡高达3.2米，视线开阔，舒适豪华。
　　绍兴大剧院舞台占地面积近2000平方米，可分为主舞台、后舞台、左右侧舞台等到四部分，是标准的“品”字型镜框式舞台，台口高度为10.6米，宽度为17米。主舞台有升降舞台5台，最大可升降4米；左右侧舞台可平移、升降；后舞台带有一个直径为16米的旋转台。舞台共设有电动吊杆66道，主舞台59道，其中51道可调速并可按预先编排的程序自动运行，能满足各种演出场景的需要。舞台表面区采用俄罗斯松木，整个地板富有弹性。绍兴大剧院的音响灯光设备均为国际演出设备市场占有率最高的产品，能适用于各种文艺演出。
　　绍兴大剧院在绍兴这个文化底蕴极为浓厚的城市，在这片稽山镜水中，无疑成为一道绚烂美丽的风景线。
